Happy second DFK birthday, Adventurers! We are incredibly excited to be celebrating this milestone, and eternally grateful for all of the support that you, our community, gives to us. Anniversaries such as this are reminders of how far we have come, and how far we still will go.
To show our gratitude, this year for our birthday we are gifting something to you! Therefore, we are pleased to present you the trailer for the upcoming Void Hunt: Mad Boar feature!
Void Hunts
The Void is stirring in Crystalvale and the Druids have started to feel its presence. A source of chaos and destruction, seeking to contaminate all that Gaia has provided, it reaches out to find and possess those susceptible to its influence.
For the first time in fifty years, the Druidic High Council has sent out a call to arms for all Heroes and mercenaries to investigate the growing darkness in the snowy cliffs above Reyalin Mountain Pass. A group of boars infected by Manshrooms and something… more insidious, have become violent and dangerous. Now is the time for Heroes to step up and protect Gaia from this mysterious new threat. Will your Heroes answer the call?
The Mad Boar Hunt is our first PvE experience, and the first Void Hunt of many to come! All Heroes are able to participate in the Hunt, however, the Archer, Priest, and Knight are currently the only classes that will have access to their skill list, up to their tier 5 skills. While skill selection will not yet involve assigning those points on the blockchain, unlike the Combat Testing Grounds, Heroes will be limited to the number of skill points their level allows.
Costs and Rewards
Participating in a Hunt will require 10 CRYSTAL and 1,000 Gold as an entry fee for your party of three. Hunting requires determination and focus, and as such, consumes 25 Stamina from the Heroes that venture out. Should your party fail to take down the monstrous mad boars, you can immediately elect to try again at half the initial cost and no additional stamina. But be warned: though heretofore unknown prizes can be earned, failure will only offer a small amount of experience, and if you choose to accept that failure, your stamina will be spent and the discount forfeited. All rewards are based solely on the final attempt made.
Should your Heroes successfully slay the boars, they shall be handsomely compensated! They will, of course, gain experience, as well as have the chance to find several items. These include rewards you are familiar with, like Gaia’s Tears and Moksha Runes, as well as a new item which cannot be seen, for it does not reflect the light. These Void Shards are mysterious fragments rumored to be corrupted shards of Saphrinox, Irae’s World-Breaker, and may hold the key to fighting the growing Void. To limit your Heroes’ exposure to the Void’s corruption, a Hero can only defeat the infected boars once every 24 hours.
The Druids are hard at work studying the shards’ long-term effects on humanoids. Early studies have shown that extreme measures are required to separate Void Shards from their owners (they are soulbound), but the leading hypothesis is that a collection of them could be used in some, potentially dangerous, way.
Additionally, to strengthen your Heroes for current and future battles, there are five unique equippable items that can be discovered from the Mad Boar Hunt! Outfit your Heroes with gear and supplies to prepare your legion for whatever may come next.
Amulet Airdrop
The introduction of equipment also includes the long-awaited Amulet airdrop! We will be hosting the drawing for the winners of the Amulets based on the snapshot from December 2021 in the coming weeks, and those Amulets will be equippable items that provide benefits in Hunts and other combat. Stay tuned for more information!
While equipment does have durability, which will be visible on each item, it will not yet begin to be consumed. As more combat experiences and equipment become available, as well as the ability to repair your equipment, an item’s durability will begin to degrade. Similarly, Amulets and the equipment from Void Hunts will be temporarily soul-bound, while we finalize the marketplace for these items.
