Context

I interviewed some of my friends, whom are currently attending college about their responses to the question: What do you think are some ways deforestation can affect one country’s economy? The first interviewee is my friend Lauren, who is currently attending University at Buffalo and studying visual arts. The Second interviewee is my friend Jessica, whom is currently attending University at Buffalo and is studying communications

Purpose

I chose to interview my college friends instead of adults and professionals because in a few years, we will be graduating and experiencing the real world. We will be the ones directly impacted by the effect since we will be in the work force. By interviewing my friends, even when most of them are not greatly educated in this area, I can get their perspectives regarding this subject. I can also raise their awareness about the impact of deforestation.

First Interview

Lauren’s interview

Lauren’s answer to this question brings up one of the impacts of deforestation to economy: tourism. Her response is that since deforestation is going to lead to a massive amount of space as a result, industries like tourism can use these available spaces to create parks and sigh-seeing destinations. All and all, one country’s economy will greatly benefit from the effect of deforestation, since tourism will bring income into the economy.

Second Interview

Jessica’s interview ( Sorry about the low quality)

Jessica’s answer to this question brings up one of the indirect impact of deforestation to economy: rise of technology. Since one of the major effects of deforestation is air pollution, the need for efficient and effective air cleansing technology will be needed in the future. All in all, deforestation will either harm or benefit one country’s economy depending on it’s technological level. If a country cannot afford to build it’s own air cleansing technology, it needs to purchase the technology from other country, thus leading to the decrease in economy. But if a country can produce its own air cleansing technology, it can sell them as products and will become part of the economy’s export income.
