Robinos is a sports performance platform on the Telos EVM network. As well as our Tokenized Prediction events, we have simple, short term events in our Versus category.

Versus events are those with two possible outcomes — normally it’s “which team will win — Team A or Team B” but we list many different types of predictions!

Here’s a step by step guide for how to predict in a Versus prediction event.

1. Get setup on Telos

To use Robinos you need to add the Telos EVM network to your MetaMask. Using Telos is basically the same as using Etherium, Polygon, BSC or Avalanche — but faster and cheaper. The easiest way to add Telos is to go to chainlist.org and search for Telos. Then click “Connect Wallet”. Click accept and the switch to Telos EVM when prompted.

Alternatively you can bridge from most of the major blockchains like Etherium, Avalanche, BSC or Arbitrum using the official Telos bridge — bridge.telos.net, however you will need some $TLOS in your wallet to swap your bridged tokens. If you’ve bridged and need help with a little gas, head to our Discord and submit a ticket and we’ll spot you 🤝

2. Get some $USDM

We use $USDM as the prediction currency for Versus. $USDM is a collateralized stablecoin backed by a high proportion of $TLOS. To learn more about $USDM check out Meridian.

The easiest way to get $USDM is to buy it at Swapsicle — the best and biggest DEX on Telos. Simply swap any coin for $USDM on their swap page.

The contract address for $USDM so you can add it to your wallet is:

0x8f7D64ea96D729EF24a0F30b4526D47b80d877B9

Or you can press the “Add To Wallet” button on the Swapsicle swap interface.

An alternative way to get $USDM is by opening a “Trove” on Meridian and staking $TLOS. This is an advanced method and requires you to do a bit of research into how it works, we encourage you to join the Meridian community to learn more. Tell the Robinos sent you 😀

One you’ve got your $USDM you are ready to start predicting.

Connect to the Robinos platform

Head to https://robinos.finance/events/versus to view the current Verus events listed on Robinos.

Note: If you see “No active events to display” you need to connect your wallet to the platform or ensure you are using the TelosEVM network.

To connect your wallet, press the “Connect Wallet” button on the platform and confirm within MetaMask.

3. Pick which event you’re going to predict

Have a look at the different events available to predict — we add more events on a regular basis so make sure you come back regularly to see what events we’ve added.

You can also search and filter for different events at the top of the platform

For some events, there may be a “handicap” in place — this determines who gets the rewards if there’s a draw. If there is a handicap, it will be added after the team or player name. In the below EPL match between Arsenal and Crystal Palace, Crystal Palace gets a 1.5 goal head start meaning if the match ends in a draw, those who bought Crystal Palace will get the rewards, and Arsenal needs to win by 2 goals or more for their backers to get rewarded.

4. Predict!

Ok, time to predict. We’re going to predict the Divisional Round playoff between the Ravens and the Texans to show you how it works.

You will see that the two teams for this event are the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans. Sales for this event close in 17 hours (as shown by the timer). As favorites to win the game, the Ravens have been given a 8.5 point handicap (shown by -8.5 next to their name) meaning they have to win by 9 points or more for those who predict them to get the rewards. The colored line shows that 51% of sales have gone to the Ravens and their Return (or ROI) is currently 1.85 — meaning that for every $USDM you buy for the Ravens, you’ll get 1.85 back if they win by more than the handicap, a decent return of 85%! However if the Texans win or lose by 8 points or less, those who predicted them to win will get 1.95 $USDM back for every $USDM they put in. Nice.

Note: Because Robinos is fully decentralized, the potential returns will fluctuate as more people participate — the return isn’t guaranteed when you buy. So keep an eye out, and you might spot some value!

To predict, first you’ll need to approve your wallet interacting with the Smart Contract. Click the “Approve Spend” button, then approve the transaction in MetaMask.

Note: MetaMask now asks you to nominate an amount of tokens you want to approve to spend. If you only approve the amount you are predicting with this time around, you’ll need to go through the approval step again next time you predict. It’s completely up to you but we recommend approving a higher amount than your initial prediction to prevent having to approve multiple times.

Once that has gone through you’ll now see the “Purchase” button.

I think the Texans will win, so I’m going to buy 5 $USDM worth, so I press purchase and then enter the amount, and then purchase again.

Confirm the transaction in your wallet.

You’ll receive the success message once it’s gone through. And you’re done!

To see your stake you may need to refresh the page.

You’ll see that my stake is now showing for Texans. You’ll also see the ROIs have been updated and the total prize pool has had 5 $USDM added.

5. Cheer your team!

That’s all you need to do — sales usually close at the start of the match, race or event so make sure you cheer on your team — our Telegram or Discord communities are perfect places to do that, and we often have free live streaming of key sports in our Discord server. Join in the fun!

6. Get rewarded!

If you predict correctly, your returns will be automatically sent to your wallet — you won’t need to claim or anything!

If you’d like to check on the events that you have participated in, go to the “Staked Events” section at the top of the screen.
