We are pleased to announce our first medical partnership with Genetics Research Centre Universitas YARSI (Genomic YARSI).
Founded in 2012, GENOMIC YARSI is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The research center focuses on the studies of population genetics, pharmacogenomics, and genetics of infectious disease. The research is funded by various bodies, such as the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education decentralization fund, YARSI University internal funding, the National Institute of Health USA, the Genome Institute of Singapore, the Thai Ministry of Public Health, and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Core-to-Core Research Programs. Under the leadership of Prof. dr. Rika Yuliwulandari, Ph.D. as the head of the research center, GENOMIC YARSI has productively generated many research outputs, from scientific articles, books, databases, genetic screening kits, and patents.
In this collaboration, Genomic YARSI will genotype the NAT2 gene polymorphisms using the qPCR and Sanger Sequencing methods in DNA samples obtained from volunteers. Polymorphisms in this gene are associated with higher incidences of anti-tuberculosis drug-induced liver injury.
