Nicole Ashley Jackson: New autopsy report confirms 4-year-old daughter’s arson death was a homicide
The manner of death for a 4-year-old girl who died in a house fire in East Point, Georgia, last November allegedly set by her mother has been determined as homicide, according to a report by 11Alive.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner named the deceased child as Arielle Jackson, who died in the fire that fire fighters said was set by accelerants, burned quickly, and displaced seven families, 11Alive says. Arielle and her twin sister, Gabrielle, were allegedly abandoned within the flames by their mother, Nicole Jackson. Nicole allegedly told police that Arielle was already deceased before the fire, and she had set to conceal the murder.
The medical examiner stated that Arielle didn’t appear to have accelerant on her at the time of the fire, 11Alive says. Gabrielle was also severely burned in the blaze, though has recovered and is in the custody of her grandmother.
At a press conference on Nov. 28, 2022, Fire Chief Corey Thornton said Gabrielle had suffered burns to her hands, arms, and portions of her face. He also confirmed that Jackson left both children in the apartment after setting the fire.
