A Georgia woman has been convicted of murdering her fiance and living with his remains for two months, though the defense alleges she was, in fact, a domestic violence victim, according to a report from Forsyth News.

After a mere 90 minutes of deliberations, a jury convicted Tabitha Zeldia Wood, 45, of malice murder, felony murder, exploitation of an elder person, concealing the death of another, financial transaction card theft and aggravated assault against a person 65 years of age or older, Forsyth News says.

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, police were called to conduct a welfare check at the request of Leroy Franklin Kramer Jr’s stepdaughter, as she hadn’t heard from him in several months, the Hall County Sheriff’s office said at the time.

When police arrived at the home, they found Wood living with Kramer’s corpse, according to WJCL. Wood allegedly told them that Kramer died in the first week of April and she’d remained in the house with the body.

Of two lamps that were in the bedroom on two night stands, one was on the floor broken, Forsyth News reports. Investigators also found a 3-pounds weight beneath Kramer.
