A Brief Introduction to the NEAR & Aurora Ecosystem
A few months ago, we shared fantastic news about winning a grant from the NEAR Foundation. At that time, we couldn’t reveal the details of the upcoming changes, but now as the time of the update is coming, we decided to talk more about this possibility.
We’d like to start with the overall walk-through of the NEAR & Aurora ecosystem. Today, we’ll tell you about this protocol, the opportunities it holds, and how DeHive users will be able to benefit from it.
What is NEAR?
NEAR is a high-performance blockchain designed to be super-fast, incredibly secure, and infinitely scalable. It facilitates Web 3 adoption both for blockchain-based products and users, enabling plenty of space for development and growth.
NEAR’s vision is to create a network that enables people to re-imagine finance, creativity, and community in new and inclusive ways. The protocol is built by an award-winning team of engineers and entrepreneurs to be simple to use, inclusive and good for the environment.
The key benefits of the protocol include the following:
- 1,000x lower transaction fees for users
- developers earn 30% of transaction fees
- high security due to validators who maintain network integrity
- easy to understand, clear UX
- Aurora EVM and Rainbow Bridge enable interoperability among chains
- a wide range of tools for developers
- infinite scalability
Simply put, NEAR is a layer one, sharded, proof-of-stake blockchain built for usability and scalability. Then what is Aurora, and why do they form an ecosystem?
What is Aurora?
Aurora is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) created by the team at the NEAR protocol, delivering a turn-key solution for developers to operate their apps on an Ethereum-compatible, high-throughput, scalable, and future-safe platform with low transaction costs for their users.
Aurora provides the Ethereum development experience with layer-2-like speed and scalability. It is currently the most advanced solution on the market and will probably remain such for a significant amount of time.
Here are just a few noteworthy features of the Aurora EVM among many:
- full Ethereum compatibility
- high throughput and scalability
- low transaction costs
- plenty of advanced features
- impeccable UX
- trustless bridging
- ETH as the base currency
What about DeHive?
As the DeHive team has won the grant from the NEAR Foundation, we announced the beginning of the work on expanding our product to the NEAR & Aurora ecosystem. Finally, a few months later, we have achieved significant progress on this integration despite all the bottlenecks and hardships on the way.
In the meantime, we have established a partnership with NearPad, a complex solution offering a DEX and a Launchpad on NEAR. This collaboration has also helped our team speed things up a little bit and come to where we are now.
We are going to share incredible news really soon, so stay tuned! Trust us, you’ll be happy to hear what we have to offer ;)
