With COVID-19 among us, each of us have begun to explore our own country. I started my summer vacation by visiting the cities of Sibiu and Sighișoara.

The distance between them is 1 hour and 30 minutes by car or 2 hours and 30 minutes by train (You can access CFR Călători website for information related to price and schedule). My recommendation is to allocate one day for a city. These are wonderful and worth visiting because they still retain that medieval air that made them famous!

I wrote below about 9 spots, which I found interesting, wonderful and worth seeing.

1. The Clock Tower (Sighișoara)

The Clock Tower of Sighișoara is the city’s symbol and its main tourist attraction. It’s a beautiful tower and museum with amazing views of the Sighisoara Fortress, the city of Sighisoara and surrounding areas. More information about tickets and schedule here.

2. Tâmplarilor Street (Sighișoara)

Tâmplarilor Street is one of the most beautiful and instagramable streets in Sighișoara.

3. Sighișoara Citadel (Sighișoara)

Sighișoara Citadel is the historical centre of Sighișoara city. It’s full of wonderful and colourful streets and surrounded by amazing towers.

4. Goldsmiths’ Square Passage (Sibiu)

The Goldsmiths’ Square, a peaceful and intimate square, is surrounded by charming old houses with medieval windows, doorways and turrets. For many years, it was the main point of passage between the Little Square and the Lower Town.

5. The Bridge of Lies (Sibiu)

There are many legends surrounding the Bridge of Lies because of its name. It is the first cast iron bridge built in Romania and the second one built in Europe. Is one of the most tourist attractions in Sibiu.

6. Grand Square (Sibiu)

The Grand Square of Sibiu dates from the 15th century and is the historical heart and a must see place of the city. The architecture of the buildings is amazing. There are many restaurants with various dishes and many shops.

7. Scara acoperită (Sighișoara)

Covered stairway leads up to the school and church at the highest point of the citadel. The stairway was covered in the 17th century to allow students and worshipers to ascend the hill during snowy weather.

8. Piața Cetății (Sighișoara)

From this square, you can easily access the main attractions of Sighisoara. The place it’s full of restaurants, cafes and shops.

9. Piața Aurarilor Street (Sibiu)

Piata Aurarilor Street is considered one of the most beautiful and instagramable streets in Sibiu.
