Why Marvel has succeed more than DC in the box office
If you are a fan of nerd culture, I think you have come to the right place in reading this article. I love this topic of the Marvel vs DC cinematic universe and what it had to offer. In the end, I’ll leave the link to my episode I took the time to get into the topic and broke down important details as I did in the clip.
The point that I brought up is that simply the storyline is better for the climate of Hollywood and follows the comics on Marvel’s end. It has been the thing that has been the constant downfall for DC and has been for the last 5 years. For example, Iron Man was the first movie that introduce the MCU and followed with other solo films like Hulk, Thor, and Captain America. DC failed with this because what they did was start with Man of Steel in 2013 and years later with Wonder Woman with no connection.
According to my findings, I read an article on the website everymoviehasalesson.com and had some interesting points. “Marvel strictly follows the concept they’ve chosen while DC is splitting off in different directions. Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger can boast a professional and logic screenplay — the tedious work is visible to the eye. As for DC movies, they suffer from negligence. For example, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice creates the impression that the screenplay was written right on the movie set by those who were under the banned substances.” (Burton 8).
That is just one of the many fans of Marvel and DC thought when we saw the movie just as I did. The cringe and want for more movies are always there when we see a Marvel and DC film and we love the next plot to follow.
Let’s take the time to look at some of the grossing films that the entire MCU did in performance below from Statista.com:
I believe the stats above and every point made in the video I highlighted is simply why DC can never be on Marvel’s level in Hollywood. There are too many movies at this point that has pushed and supported the narrative over the years and the business side has been in Marvel’s favor. The fact that shows and projects were introduced by the famous producer behind the success Kevin Feige announced at Comic-Con in 2019 does the chance to surpass them anymore.
There are the fans who still side with DC of course because that’s what makes debates great. The darker and non-family blend it offers is loved by fans out there. However, put simply, I believe facts are facts at the end of the day and anyone true superhero fan can tell you the better product.
