Three Poems

On Words

There has always been,

Weight,

In what you say.

You should learn,

To measure it.

On Him

Your promises,

Empty.

As the bottles,

From the night before.

On Her

I am Rootless,

Lost in a dark.

Routeless.

I understood it as,

I understood it as,

I understand.

Shamim de Brún is a Dublin-born writer at District magazine. A natural enthusiast, her passions include wine, literary fiction, and Lord of the Rings.
