Seoul Meta Week 2022 is Korea’s biggest three days-long event that feature two main conferences Blockchain Open Forum and Metacon and NFT Seoul 2022. The event is dedicated to the wide range of the financial industry’s emerging trends and future development of blockchain technology, metaverse, NFT, and Web3-focused strategies. The world’s blockchain advisers and top financial and metaverse players such as BNB Chain (Binance), Polygon, Upbit subsidiary Lambda256, and Delio are the lineups of the participants and main sponsors of the Seoul Meta Week 2022.

The Blockchain Open Forum which was held on October 4 allowed insights into the evolution of Web 3.0 with the intervention of Yun ChangHyun, member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and Chairman of the South Korean Digital Assets Committee, who works toward establishing and legislative development of Virtual Assets in Korea.

In the opening ceremony, Yun ChangHyun stated that blockchain is the technology that could bring about revolutionary improvements in every aspect of the local and global society emphasizing communication with users as the main strength of the Web3 and lack of information as the weakness.

Mentioning the recent Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation finalized by European Union and the US Responsible Financial Innovation Act (RFIA), Korea makes strong moves toward establishing local crypto-focused bills encouraging industry development while decreasing the potential risks of crimes.

James Jung, the CEO of Delio, highlighted the significance of Web3 in building a stakeholder capitalist ecosystem that distributes profits to all ecosystem components which excludes shareholder capitalism in the context of the existing Internet development. He also detailed a breakdown of the current Web3 structure, which applies stakeholder capitalism and allows all ecosystem players to participate in decision-making, mentioning DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization), distributed ledger that secures data trust, and crypto assets as three essential elements of Web3.

The CEO of Delio underlined that by classifying virtual assets into three categories, STO, NFT, and cryptocurrency the current level of utilization is growing beyond all possibilities. Despite the recent NFT volume transaction decline, STOs might reach 16 trillion USD in 2030 while digital assets could reach 1,000 trillion KRW in 2026, world’s giants, including Nike, Hyundai Card SK Telecom, and Starbucks are getting involved in the NFT business.
