Dear Deliver Addis Community,

With the recent news about COVID-19, we recognize that it is our responsibility to take the COVID-19 precautionary measures extremely seriously, for the continued welfare of our customers, staff, and partners.

This message aims to let you know what we’re doing to keep our community, partners, and you safe.

We are committed to being there for you when it matters and to supporting our hospitality and retail partners who are open for business on Deliver Addis. Please know we are taking precautions advised by public health officials and we are partnering with restaurants to promote healthy delivery practices.

Some of the precautions we’re taking

We have provided our drivers with genuine NIOSH-approved 3M N95 masks as a precaution to avoid potential transmission, as well as disposable gloves to handle your orders with. We are also asking our drivers, customers, employees and partners to maintain social distances of 1 meter as often as possible (as recommended by the WHO)

Making safe deliveries

  • Outside deliveries. We encourage you to designate a spot outside your house/building/office space to complete the delivery. Feel free to put specific requests in the notes section during checkout. We also encourage not taking your delivery directly from the driver by hand but to use a nearby surface you are comfortable with to put down your payment and retrieve your delivery from in order to help maintain the WHO-recommended distance.
  • Contactless Cash Handling: Ethiopia still operates mainly on cash hence we have provided our drivers with gloves to avoid as much as possible hand-to-hand cash handling. As suggested above, we encourage you to use a nearby surface you are comfortable with to put down your payment and retrieve your delivery in order to help keep the WHO-recommended distance.
  • Contactless Restaurants handling: As of today we are beginning efforts with restaurants to put in place health measures and avoid contact between their staff and ours, respecting the social distance measures advised by the WHO when we pick up your order.

How else can you help?

Please politely avoid direct hand contact with our drivers, as well as practice overall good hygiene as advised by Ethiopian Health Institute and WHO.

Note that many people will be spending more time at home in the coming weeks and delivery demand may accelerate significantly. We and our partners are doing everything we can to get your deliveries to you as quickly as possible, but we do ask for your understanding in the case of any unexpected delays due to a higher than usual order volume. As always, please feel free to give our driver a tip should you choose to and an extra thank you for their hard work during this very difficult time.

Please note, if you or someone in your home is quarantined, we respectfully ask that you do not place an order during this time.

We will continue to closely monitor updates from the Ethiopian Health Institute and the World Health Organization (WHO) for their assessments on the outbreak and will keep you in the loop on any updates or changes.

If you have any questions or thoughts, we’d love to hear from you at help@deliveraddis.com

We urge everyone to act responsibly and abide by the guidelines that have been put in place for your own safety. Prevention efforts today help save lives tomorrow.

Thanks for your patience and as always, for being a loyal Deliver Addis Customer.
