March, Manchester, Mayhem

It’s March, and that means we’re one step closer to spring. To celebrate, we left the comfort of the capital and headed north to Manchester to track down some of the great beers we’ve been hearing about on the hop poles.

News out of the North West has been non-stop over the last year or so. It seems like every new brewery we hear about is a stone’s throw from Piccadilly station.

The result of our labour was the curation of not one but two of the city’s finest brews, and the first of what we hope will be many Mancunian DeskBeers specials.

RUNAWAY — IPA (5.5%)

This IPA amps up the malts and hops to give a sturdy but well balanced body. Orange and pineapple hints give way to a slightly spicy, wonderfully drawn out finish.

As the name suggests, this Saison is light and airy. Like all beers of this type, it’s all about the citrus flavours. Unlike some, this one also contains a hint of spice.
