Coming down from the high

As I sit here with storm Eunice as the theme tune, coffee in hand, thinking about the high’s of the last few weeks — some really big milestones both personally and professionally. It’s often a bit flat afterwards, when you think you’ve hit the peak, but right now, it’s all about the up.
Highlights:
- The first leadership roundtable with our CEO Richard Houston — such an amazing conversation. To have such engagement and senior support is wonderful. And, all my nightmares about the lack of dial in details, no one speaking and it all just being generally awful and career limiting, didn’t happen. Of course!
- The ideas, passion and energy that came from that session (it’s going to keep me busy), but it’s so exciting.
- Some amazing conversations with our people about workshops. It never fails to surprise me when I learn about our capabilities. So inspirational.
- Starting to see where this programme could go, and the impact it could have. I just want to do it all. Now.
- Applications for our new charity partnerships starting to come in — it’s deadline day today and I’m expecting around 80. That’s my other big project and great to see the work on that start to come to fruition.
Lowlights:
- I’m tired. This year has been full on already and I’m in need of a rest. I have a few days off coming up to recharge.
- There’s always so much to do, it can sometimes feel like you’re not doing anything justice. But I’m one person, I am part of a great team, and we’re all doing our best. That is enough and that is OK.
- My dog, Ziggy, doing a runner on Wednesday night and nearly getting run over about three times. The stress, I can’t even begin to explain. I was stopping cars in the road, while he was having a great time chasing a fox. Rascal. If he wasn’t so adorable…
Stay safe from the storms everyone.
