It was great to hear a group of charities play back their experience and findings from their involvement in the Deloitte Digital Connect programme today.

A key theme for me was the digital capability that each charity has developed as part of their journey. Digital approaches and design thinking methods can be difficult to use in smaller organisations or those not familiar with the approaches as they can feel whacky, long-winded, or slow. So it was great to see project leads on the call embracing things like user research and ideation sessions — and their sponsors seeing the value in the both the findings/ideas generated AND the design process. We also heard some examples of how people are, or plan to, use the skills and approaches developed to use in other areas they’re working on.

So, the the key takeaway has been the capability building, and for me the next steps are how can we expand that so that others across the charity can also adopt the excellent skills and confidence developed by our project lead.
