I’m Rachel, I’m the Marketing & Communications Lead at Move On Scotland (Maternity Cover). I came on board with Move On in early December, so it’s been really interesting finding my feet and understanding the different moving parts involved in the role. While I’ve worked in marketing for several years now, this has been in retail and ecommerce, so I’m totally new to the third sector!
Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Awards Applications
- Deadline was on Monday for the 2022 Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Awards
- I submitted applications for 2 categories for Move On (Responsible Business and Developing the Young Workforce.)
- Challenges — slight impostor syndrome, as although I’ve written in a professional context for years, awards applications are new for me. Also sticking to an 800 word limit — I have so much to say about what we do!
- Overcame them by — asking for, and receiving genuinely helpful support from both my Director, and our Fundraiser. And editing myself — after all if I can handle the twitter character limit daily, I can get my point across in under 800 words
Glasgow Office Visit
- Went in to our Glasgow office for only the second time since starting in December to keep a colleague company while the new carpets were being fitted as part of current renovations
- Was there for a sum total of 90 minutes — fire alarm went off, fire brigade arrived, confirmed no fire but as it was located in the building next door, had to go home for the day as the factor couldn’t get an engineer out til later!
- Honestly the whole thing was pretty hilarious — plus climbing to our office on the 4th floor several times boosted my step count for the day.
Lunar New Year — Social Media Post
- As part of our commitment to more visible inclusivity this year, I’m making a conscious effort to ensure all key cultural holidays are acknowledged on our socials
- Had a fun morning on Tuesday putting together a cute graphic for all of our accounts (branded by colour to represent Move On itself and both of our social enterprises) to celebrate the Lunar New Year
