#SeeMySkills phase two: Project notes week one
What is the project?
Planning the final phase of our campaign #SeeMySkills. A long running campaign which is linked to an appeal, key findings from research into the barriers faced by blind and partially sighted people in finding employment. The campaign has multiple outputs and goals: awareness, behaviour change and income generation through service provision. The campaign launched on 14 October 2021 (World Sight Day) and with the help of paid ads, one of the main assets of the campaign; four short films, were successfully viewed.
Assets of the campaign/resources
- Four short films which don’t have a fundraising ask but rather raise awareness of the campaign; that people who are visually impaired are ready and willing to work, despite the many barriers set by society.
- 45 min webinar for workplaces to encourage inclusivity and break some of the taboos of VIP.
- Four free fact sheets covering: Access to Work, workplace accessibility, accessible tech and workplace culture.
Planning tools
Having put the campaign on hold to relaunch in the new year due to the target audience (workplaces and decision-makers), I needed to almost re-introduce myself to the campaign.
At first it felt like a mammoth task to get my head back into it especially with planning for upcoming work in 2022 and 2023. I found myself delaying and procrastinating, but knowing I couldn’t ignore it for much longer, I roped in my line manager to clear the cobwebs and look at the campaign with fresh eyes.
Expecting to lean on my line manager for a bit of guidance, I found that I was mostly ‘talking out loud’! Which showed that I was totally ready to tackle this part of the campaign and had everything I needed for it, I just needed to dedicate the time.
So, not so daunting after all.
I’ve kicked off planning with a very simple Word document and table.
What I’ve done this week for the campaign
- Nailed down the key findings of the report which are relevant to the target audience.
- Jotted down a mini brief for the assets linking to the brief.
- Written posts to accompany the graphics along with clear CTAs.
Next steps
- Brief colleague to design graphics.
- Plan posts with two of the four films (which are relevant to the audience).
- Map out timings for all channels.
