As Executive lead for organisational performance at Depaul UK, I’m keen to make sure we understand the difference our work is making

This week we entered the final phase of our performance dashboard development — which staff from across the charity have been engaged on for many months

It was great to see the huge progress that has been made, if a little anxiety-inducing to see what is left to do.

Good things

On reviewing the work with the team I got a really good sense of how the basic principles and outcomes of the dashboard and its value in helping teams make decisions have been understood. That’s so important.

Difficulties

Finding the right KPIs hasn’t been easy, neither has finding the time to do the ‘thinking’ to reach them. Thankfully, with everyone engaged on the same project, we’ve been able to bounce ideas around within a wider group.

Achievements

This has been a great opportunity for collaborative working across the organisation, and the engagement in the project gives me every confidence that we have the buy in we need to be able to navigate any tricky conversations which might arise when we start reviewing the data.

Learned things

I wonder if it is the slow pace we have adopted with this project which has, hopefully, made it a success. Or if we might have been able to get it off the ground a quarter or two sooner.
