New craft distillery in Mallorca launches organic Palma Gin
From the pearl of the Mediterranean a new artisan gin has been delicately handcrafted. The goal of Palma-based Mallorca Distillery was to take everything the Island has to offer and somehow capture this in the feel, look and taste of a unique gin.
The bottle design, for example, was inspired by a local Mallorcan family run company in Campos, Huguet, who have been hand-making tiles on the island for over 80 years. They were the key inspiration and the starting point in creating the stunning design. The rosette logo resembles the West facing window of the cathedral La Seu, the most iconic spot in Palma. The bottles are ink printed with organic paint, the back label tells customers a bit about the brand in Mallorquin, Castellano and English.
A taste of the island is captured in every sip of Palma Gin. Ingredients are produce and botanicals that grow naturally on the island, they were blended in a gin recipe which represents Mallorca for its delicate flowers, zesty citrus and earthy vegetation. Only the highest quality products were used; organic alcohol distilled with organic botanicals such as coriander, orris root, cassia bark, cardamom pods, angelica root, liquorice root, lime peel and rhubarb root. Locally foraged botanicals include juniper, fresh lemon peel, fresh orange peel, almond flowers, orange leaves, tomato stalks and lavender.
Palma Gin has a light citrus and floral scent. The first note is lightly floral followed by an apparent orange and lemon citrus. The second note gives way to an earthy feel with a refreshing piney flavour. The strength of 46.6 % is apparent but still very mellow. The combination results in a light, fresh, delicate tasting gin. A true taste of the Island.
Palma Gin is the first product of many to come from the distillery. The head distiller is currently working on an organic Vodka recipe which will be presented soon.

The small craft distillery showcases the creative endeavours of founders Amber and Byron, focusing initially on launching two premium products, Palma Ginebra and Palma Vodka, that really capture the beauty of the island. Mallorca Distillery’s small scale production also gives Head Distiller, James Gibbons, the opportunity to personally oversee each process, ensuring intricate care and attention during every distillation, with an unparalleled focus on quality.
