A reinvention of economic and public policies combining social direction and conscience with market based solutions.

Democratic Capitalism is a political economic system of thought that is founded on the following premises:

  1. Competitive markets flexibly, efficiently allocate productive resources.
  2. Unregulated markets are not necessarily competitive or socially efficient.
  3. Capital’s natural tendency to accumulate is not socially optimal.
  4. Representative control of institutions by their stakeholders is socially best.
  5. Even the most efficient markets have no conscience and no compassion.
  6. Efficient medium-term equilibrium may include long-term destabilizing factors which can cause major economic shocks if unattended.

Given that capitalist economies do not necessarily naturally address human needs, the Democratic Capitalist prioritizes government intervention into capitalist operation in the following ways, beginning with the bottom and working towards the top:
