So for our honeymoon, we made quite a length of itinerary:

Bangkok — Germany — Iceland — New York — Aruba — Curacao — Bonaire — Curacao — Miami — Bangkok

The above plan was for 1 month trip, from 16 December 2017 to 16 January 2018.
As you may notice, we travel through (extreme) winter and tropical places.

One of the deal that we made from the start of planning (Note: Dennis made me do this) was to bring only 1 BIG SUITCASE for both of us, and 2 CABIN LUGGAGES — 1 for each of us. Additional such as handbags, backpacks, are OK as long as each of us can carry them ourselves.

At first I think, “No way, this is crazy. It is our honeymoon, going to exotic destinations, of course I want to look good in the camera! What about my dresses?”. But there was no way out, we booked cheap flights in between those inter continent flights with limited luggage already.

So, what I packed, for winter:

  1. Personal needs (the must-haves, such as toiletries, undies)
  2. 1 coat
  3. Uniqlo heat teach, 2 sets each (so we can wash), I pack 1 set ultra heat and 1 set extra heat
  4. 1 beanies (no way we can survive NY and Iceland without this)
  5. 1–2 scarfs
  6. 1 boots, 2 long socks
  7. 2 sweaters, 2 jeggings
  8. 1 dress (PEGGY HARTANTO, of course) — for Christmas and NY parties!

For tropical:

  1. Personal needs (including 3 bottles of sunscreen)
  2. 1 sneakers, 1 flipflops, 2 ankle socks
  3. 3 swimwears
  4. 2 beach dresses, 3 tops, 3 short pants, 3 sunglasses, hair accessories
  5. 1 set sportswear (you never know what kind of adventure you will have)

Additional note:

  1. Use KonMari method for packing, it helps big time for me, because you can see all of the things once you open the suitcase without digging inside.
  2. Pick primarily neutral color clothes, with 1–2 items pop colors, so you can do mix and match
  3. Plan what you will shop, because this for sure will take spaces. We shop for new boots and new electronic stuff (drone, laptop), so we made sure in advance that we will have space for that. For the boots, I just planned that I will throw my old one once I got the new pair.

I would say, this trip changed the way I pack.
Now, I can pack very light (only with cabin luggage) for 3–5 days, which is very useful if we fly using low-cost airlines, and if we move places during one trip.

Yay for light packing!
