Spending a week in a big city can be so mundane, especially if you are doing routines. I think that’s why Dennis is always so excited to go outside Bangkok, every time we have spent a week (or more) in the city, just like this week. In an opportunity (a.k.a. free hotel night), we decided to go to Rayong by Wednesday night, and Friday early morning we were already on our way there.

Rayong, famous for its beaches, is a quiet 1 hour-ish drive from Pattaya, and 2 hours from Bangkok. It is a great option for those who don’t really like the hustle-bustle of the tourist city Pattaya, but want to get their hand on delicious dips of seafood and a majestic sunset. It is also a getaway to little islands nearby such as Koh Samed (45 minutes ferry ride) and Koh Tha Lu (for snorkeling).

On this very short getaway, we stayed at the Rayong Marriott Resort and Spa, which actually was a perfect choice given its direct beach access. The beach is very quiet and clean (almost no trash). We didn’t go out from the hotel at all since it was only a short stay.

It was a perfect relaxing weekend getaway.
