When I visited Tokyo, it was on the top of my list to visit the most visited art exhibition by teamLab, called Borderless. Blame the super instagenic pictures by influencers, as usual!

However, the exhibition was fully booked during the period of my visit (that’s how popular it is!). Lucky me, my brother Richard offered to visit another teamLab exhibition called Planets instead.

All shoes are off, left all possessions in the locker, and be ready to roll your trousers/skirts up above your knee. Taking cue from its title “Planets”, expect the non-usual experience for your five senses.

For me, the experience is definitely worth the money! It was a total sensory exhibition which you could not only see but also touch and feel. It was as if teamLab would like to give an experience about living in another space to the visitors. It was easily the highlight of my visit to Tokyo this time.

Not spoiling too much, here are fun facts about this exhibition:

  1. It was spread on 10,000 sqm space
  2. It has 7 main installation sections
  3. No shoes are allowed inside the museum
  4. This museum will be opened until Autumn 2020, so you got plenty of chance to visit!

“My motivation is to create something that people have never seen, felt or experienced before,” — Takumi Nomoto (CEO of Teamlab Planets Tokyo’ tells designboom

In my opinion, teamLab is definitely setting the bar high for contemporary digital museum game in Tokyo, if not, the world. Welcome to the future!
