Japan holds a special place in our heart, and Japanese food holds a special place in our tummy! Quoting Dennis, “it is worth going to Japan only for the food,” and I wholeheartedly agree.

I have visited Tokyo more often than other places, so here’s the round up of my delicious food findings (and place that I always go back to) in Tokyo!
Since most of the recommendations below have several places (joints), you can just google the place to see which is the closest one to you!

Ichiran Ramen

A super famous ramen chain, you can choose how you like your ramen to be done (after purchasing via vending machine) and then sit in cubicle to enjoy it!

Tatsunoya

I went here for Tsukemen (a type of ramen that you eat by dipping the noodles on the sauce before eating). The long queue of locals and tourists may take up to 40–50 minutes long, but it’s worth it! They will offer you to mix your left-over sauce with porridge in the end after you finished your noodles. If you are in Shinjuku area, you should give it a try!

Yamachan

Fan of chicken wing, come over! Heard of phrase “chicken and beer”? This is the best phrase for Yamachan, and only order the Tebasaki, no need to look at other menu.

Maisen Tonkatsu

High quality Tonkatsu joint, and if you cannot have enough of their dining meal, you can always takeaway their sandwich bento. Same as good!

Gyukatsu Motomura

Grill-it-yourself gyukatsu, which each seat comes with its own mini grill. There’s only 1 food to choose with several weights options. If you’re contemplating which one to choose, choose the biggest one because it is SO SO GOOD! Also have several chain, and long queue so better go early!

Freshness Burger

Japan-based burger joint, made with fresh ingredients, and homemade buns. Great for quick lunch break between shoppings

Imoya Tonkatsu (search with “Imoya”)

Tiny shop, big portion, high quality tonkatsu! Run by 2 obaa-san (grandma and grandpa), this place is an authentic shop near the wholesale market area in Tokyo.

Gindaco Takoyaki

Must go place if you’re looking for Takoyaki, it’s a chain restaurant so there’s good chance to find Gindaco almost in all major station in Tokyo.

Marion Crepes

There’s no way you’re visiting Harajuku without trying their take away crepes. My favorite: cheesecake blueberry!
