Pictures of only men at executive meetings. A study about the future where only 1 woman was interviewed. A talent program pamphlet where 75% of the pictures are of men.

International Women’s Day was founded in 1910 but we still need to press forward and progress gender parity over 100 years later.

It’s the majority of men in C-level positions, lack of women in research studies and higher intake of men which makes me work even harder and strive to outperform daily. I want to fill the void where there’s a lack of women, prove that women are as good, if not perhaps better, because overall, we have to strive harder to be considered for opportunities in our careers.

The excuse that there were not enough women to ask, not enough women that applied, not enough women that raised their hands is not acceptable in a modern society. We need to make it a top priority and work harder to ensure female employees feel recognized and valued, not based on gender but based on their accolades and work ethic. That their opinions are heard and their leadership skills are respected. The vision is clear, but gender equality won’t happen by itself as long as we make excuses.

Let’s make the pledge together, starting today, to challenge uneven gender diversity when we see it, proactively highlight our female talents and always secure a gender parity — both in mindset and in action.

I’m proud to be a part of the Dentsu Aegis Management team in Sweden where gender diversity is both in mind and in action.
