In July this year, we welcomed media.at, one of Austria’s leading media agencies, to the Dentsu Aegis Network family. This merger resulted in DAN becoming the second largest agency in the Austrian market.

We spoke to Andreas Martin, Managing Director of media.at, and Petra Hofstätter, Head of the unit “mediastrategen”, to learn more about the people behind the brand …

So … tell us what you do!

The history of media.at began in 1974 when state owned companies, our former shareholders, started to centrally handle all of its media planning and media buying activities — 40 years later, we are one of THE full-service media agencies with an established client base and particularly strong stance in the rapidly growing digital marketing industry in Austria.

Our clients benefit from our great terms with media partners generated by large purchasing volumes, and we benefit from our broad customer base of renowned Austrian companies, who value our competence, professionalism, reliability and service-oriented approach. Our 65 employees come to work every day with that mind set, and in reality we see ourselves as “brand lovers”.

It’s our job to harmonise media, customers and brands to build emotional long-term relationships between customers and brands.

In addition to a multitude of awards won in previous years, we have been awarded with the prestigious medianet.xpert awards (where ranking is based on agency billing volume, client satisfaction survey and a credential presentation to 30 marketing experts) being recognised as the 2nd best media agency in Austria in March 2016 and 3rd in 2017.

What does media.at specialise in?

As a local one-stop shop, we’re able to offer our clients the whole range of media marketing solutions for classic as well as digital media, because we entered the digital field in 2012 with the foundation of our joint venture subsidiary trigomedia.

Within just a few years we’ve become one of the leading digital agencies in the Austrian market. In 2015 we were one of the first Austrian media agencies to implement a local based trading desk for real-time advertising. Since then, we’ve also implemented several data-driven strategies based on data-managed platform solutions for our clients.

“It’s our job to harmonise media, customers and brands to build emotional long-term relationships between customers and brands.”

Which markets do you operate in?

We’re an Austrian media agency but do operate in some neighbour countries. Germany is definitely the most important market, given our previous connection with the pilot group.

What did you know about Dentsu Aegis Network before you joined?

Dentsu Aegis Network is well known as an international network with Asian roots, many sub-brands and way more than just media… and of course, we know the network is strongly driven by innovation!

“We see ourselves as “brand lovers”.”

What are you most looking forward to as a new member of the group?

We can’t wait to start our deep dive into the world of Dentsu Aegis!

Firstly, we’ll concentrate on the integration of media.at with DAN, but we'll also check out tools, get to know the workflow of the international network and definitely broaden our perspective on innovation. The exchange of know-how and improvement of our local business is also key for us.

What are your key priorities for this year?

Given the merger, we’re definitely going to be prioritising the integration project, but we’ll also focus on the economy of scale effects as a result of the merger. It’s also our aim to participate as soon as possible within the wider network and portfolio of DAN — especially in the field of innovation and upcoming digital projects!

If you could summarise Dentsu Aegis Network in one word?

Visionary — that was easy!

And finally… if your brand could be a Netflix show for the day, what would it be?

Everyone knows the series “Full House” which was launched on TV in 1987, right? Well, now there’s the relaunch of “Fuller House”! We’re looking forward to meeting all of our new colleagues from across the network and we’re proud to be part of a big family under one roof.

Together we’ll work on the constant improvement of our capabilities, the development of our clients and our clear market positioning.

Servus! (that’s how we say goodbye in Austria)
