Open data for all of Pittsburgh
In 2014, the City of Pittsburgh began an amibitous effort to make its data open and accessible to everyone. True transparency and openness were essential steps in ensuring a more responsive City government, and equipping residents and neighborhood organizations with the tools and information they need to work toward stronger, more equitable communities.
With its partners at Allegheny County and the University of Pittsburgh, the City launched a regional open data platform and has since released 86 data sets. To make viewing and accessing that data even easier, it launched Burgh’s Eye View, a suite of interactive mobile web maps. This effort has been called some of the country’s best data visualization.
We’re excited to hear and share your stories of using open data to make our city better. Have a story you’d like to share? Email me.
