What is Sustainible?

Sustainible is a local, woman, minority, and immigrant-owned startup in Pittsburgh, with a mission to contribute to the economic, community, and entrepreneurial growth by fostering the likelihood of business success in the short and long term. The company has developed a tool that evaluates business models based on a set of predetermined market standards evaluated by a wide array of market trends, history, and industry experts.

A screencapture of Sustainable’s tool comprises the image. There are several fields which business owners are expected to fill out to determine the wellness of their enterprise across several factors, such as financial status.

The engine outputs scores that estimate the feasibility of the venture and provides recommendations and resources on how to improve or implement the business model. Sustainible was developed to help small business owners develop a strategic plan on how to improve or implement their business model in a matter of minutes. And since business model improvement can increase the likelihood of receiving capital, Sustainible inherently works to contribute to equitable opportunities.

What was it like being a part in PGH Lab?

The PGH Lab pilot has brought about changes to the tool, based on multiple feedback sessions from Urban Redevelopment Authority staff, City of Pittsburgh staff, and business leaders who work directly with small businesses. The main change was improving upon the verbiage of questions and recommendations to make them more relatable to users.

Talpha, a founder and member of Sustainible remarked “It was nice to work with the City of Pittsburgh to improve on the tool. Meeting people where they’re at in their journey is an important element in business development, and the feedback from the pilots helped us do that.”

What is Sustainible working on now?

Sustainible is ready to soft-launch and open our platform up to the general public. We’re still improving the platform as we go along, and will continue to do so throughout our journey. But we’re excited to finally release and let small business owners try out the tool themselves.
