Why I’ll Never Use Claude Again
Bad UX made me delete my account
Like most Americans, I’ve been busy this weekend doing my taxes. Unfortunately, I’m still working on them, which is what took me to Claude.
Since 2023, I’ve been experimenting with LLMs for use to improve my coding velocity and help me brainstorm interesting new article ideas.
Because it’s tax time — a ritual that’s taking me 20+ hours this year — I’ve been downloading my various invoices for business expenses.
I’d already stopped paying for Claude 3.7 Sonnet, since it didn’t seem great at coding or brainstorming, but I went back to access my invoices.
However, when I went to Claude’s billing (claude.ai/settings/billing), where Anthropic promises I’d find my invoices, there are no invoices:
That’s both an awful user interface design and a terrible user experience, but I figured it would be a simple support query.
I tried asking Anthropics “AI support agent,” which first gaslit me, and then told me that I’d have to resubscribe (!) to access my invoices.
