On core77 I came across an article that lured me into read with a title that said ‘“Husband Storage Pods” for Shopping Malls’. The article by Rain Noe goes onto to talk about a mega mall in Shanghai that has design 2 husband pods where their wife's can drop them off as they go shopping, as the stereotype is. The pod itself is full of old retro games to play for hours on end and pass the time.

The article shows some quotes of peoples opinion on the pods and there are mixed reactions about them. One positive feedback someone said was “Really great. I’ve just played Tekken 3 and felt like I was back at school!”.

However some negative feedback about the design was another quote from the article which says “If my husband just wants to go out and play games, what’s the point of bringing him out?”

This asks the question why did someone make these pods. Did the designers feel men waiting for women shopping (as the stereotype says) was such a major issue that they felt they had to spend probably a lot of money on small gaming pod . I feel the concept and design is very over the top to try and resolve such a minor issue, because as the quote says whats the point in brining them out if they just want to play games.
