Coworking Spaces Unite Across Scotland for the Country’s First National Coworking Day
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom — 07 May 2018
On the 8th May 2018, coworking spaces across Scotland will open their doors for Scotland’s first ever National Coworking Day. The day is being run as part of the CanDo Festival, a series of events helping Scotland achieve its ambition of becoming a world-leading entrepreneurial nation.
Aimed at showcasing the concept of coworking to all industries, National Coworking Day will demonstrate to hundreds of attendees how coworking can support innovation and collaboration, thus helping Scotland to achieve its ambition.
The day kicks off at 9.00am on Tuesday 8th May with over 40 coworking spaces from Inverness to Edinburgh welcoming people from all industries to work together for the day. In the evening, attendees will gather at Round the World Studios in Leith to hear from: former Enterprise Minister Jim Mather; Founder and CEO of FreeAgent Ed Molyneux; coworking pioneer Claire Carpenter; and Architect Hazel Pearson all sharing stories of collaboration, coworking, entrepreneurship, automation, and workplace design.
To facilitate the day, a mobile application has been custom built by the team at Shoal, a Scottish tech startup based in Edinburgh. The app will enable attendees to find the spaces closest to them, check in, and navigate there.
Organiser & Co-founder of Shoal, Michael Cockburn said: “We strongly believe in the power of collaboration to create new opportunities and are very excited to bring coworking spaces from across the country together for National Coworking Day. My business partner and I met at a coworking space in 2015 and have since started two business together that continue to grow every year. We are just one very small example of what coworking can achieve.”
In order to achieve our ambition of being a leading entrepreneurial nation, we need places for entrepreneurs and people in business to gather and to work together so that they have every encouragement to stay firmly planted on their rocky journeys.
This is why Coworking deserves a national day: through the simple act of working in the company of others, connections are made and support is given so that entrepreneurs and people in business alike can continue in the pursuit of solving the worthwhile problems that will continue to define Scotland as a leading entrepreneurial nation.
