Polly’s New Beginning: Finding Freedom with “Eyes on the Road”
You know the scene — one of those iconic moments in a classic road movie when the protagonist finally decides to leave behind a troubled past, driving into the horizon in a vintage car. It’s a moment of liberation, a breath of freedom at last.
In this moment, we meet Polly. The song blasting from the car stereo? Her very own track, “Eyes on the Road.”
“I was in the middle of a massive heartbreak, completely devastated and drowning in sorrow, when one night, I watched Thelma & Louise. I remember going to bed and waking up the next morning with this overwhelming surge of energy. A powerful urge to run away, to escape from everything that once was, and just be with the people who truly matter to me,” Polly shares.
“Eyes on the Road” marks both a personal and artistic rebirth for the 28-year-old Danish singer-songwriter, who made her debut with the 2022 album, Invitation. With her new single, Polly leads listeners into a more dynamic, outward-facing universe. Her voice soars, crystal clear over big guitar chords, blending with ’90s synths and vibrant, empowering cheerleader-like choruses, while acoustic drums drive the alt-pop melodies forward.
“For me, road trips have always created this special, intimate space,” Polly explains. “Eyes on the Road taps into that feeling. It’s about regaining faith in the future and the adventures that lie ahead. It’s about friendship and how, in that shared space, everyday worries seem to melt away, while some of the most important conversations happen.”
The track features Eigil Fauerskov on guitar, Julius Lykke on bass, and Tobias Laust on drums, and was co-written and produced with Casper Muuns and Anton True Klüver.
With “Eyes on the Road,” Polly opens a new chapter. And there’s more music on the horizon. Stay tuned.
