An Idea

As a beginner on Medium, I started off by studying several articles on writing tips guiding newbies such as myself on attracting an audience. A key takeaway from my cursory reading was to write for publications.

Everybody swore by it.

I looked into a few. Scanning their follower-ship was enough to convince me to apply as a writer. I was soon accepted, and began typing away. My user engagement gradually increased.

In my speedy attempt to acquaint myself with publications, I overlooked a key factor.

I couldn’t find a publication catering to one of my deepest interest.

To share stories about my country and its diverse heritage.

Given that we are a strong population of 1.4 bn, I was certain I wasn’t the only one sharing this deep respect & admiration for our culture.

Together we’d be able to share our wholesome experiences with the larger Medium community, I thought to myself.

This desire led me to create Desi Diaries.
