As a UX designer, AI has become the cool new kid on the block that everyone wants to hang out with. But like all friendships, it has its ups and downs. Here are 10 things I’ve learned from working with AI — and trust me, it’s been a wild ride, full of lightbulb moments, facepalms, and a few laughs along the way.

1. AI Loves Data… Almost Too Much

AI’s obsession with data is like that one friend who can’t stop scrolling through social media. While it’s great that AI wants to know everything, sometimes it feels like we’re drowning in stats. The key here is balance. Too much data? AI can go off the rails. Too little data? It’s basically a toaster. I’ve learned to keep the data buffet well-stocked but not overwhelming.

Lesson: Like feeding a goldfish, don’t overfeed your AI with too much data. A bloated AI is a sluggish AI.

2. AI is Super Smart but Not Creative (Yet)

AI can calculate complex algorithms in seconds, but ask it to design a creative, user-friendly interface? Cue blank stare. AI may win Jeopardy, but it still doesn’t understand why Comic Sans is a design crime. As a UX designer, my role is to bring creativity and empathy to AI’s raw power. It’s like the brain meets heart duo in a buddy cop…
