Imot.bg is a popular real estate platform in Bulgaria. It allows users to buy, sell, and rent properties. The platform offers a wide range of listings, including apartments, houses, land, and commercial spaces.

As an Imot.bg user, I couldn’t help but notice that despite its reliability, the app’s features have remained almost unchanged over the years. While I was used to its features, I began to wonder if there was room for improvement in terms of accessibility and user-friendliness. Motivated to address these potential issues, I embarked on a journey of discovery and innovation through user testing.

Setting the Stage:

To ensure a focused and efficient approach, I realized the importance of having a clear structure and timeline for my redesign project. Embracing the agile philosophy, I opted for the 5-day sprint methodology, which would enable me to accelerate the process and maintain a sharp focus throughout.

The Solo Challenge:

Undertaking the 5-day sprint alone presented a unique set of challenges. With no team to rely on, I needed to wear multiple hats as the UX/UI designer, researcher, and tester. The key to success lay in staying disciplined and maximizing my efforts to make each day count.

Day 1

  • Clearly identify the goal.
  • Identify the challenges.
  • Break down the goal into smaller, actionable tasks.
  • Set realistic expectations and define the scope of the sprint.

Day 2

  • Conduct any necessary research
  • Gather information, resources, and inspiration.
  • Generate ideas and potential solutions.
  • Quick audit of the app

Day 3

  • Refine your ideas and select the most promising concepts.
  • Create wireframes, sketches, prototypes.
  • Iterate on the design.

Day 4

  • Begin implementing the chosen concept or solution.
  • Focus on the core functionalities and features.
  • Test and validate implementation.

Day 5

  • Review and feedback received.
  • Make necessary iterations.
  • Finalize, ensuring it meets the intended goals and requirements.

Learnings:

A 5-day sprint can be intense and demanding, requiring full concentration and dedication to meet the deadline.

However, the rewards of completing the sprint are well worth the effort.

The process of convincing people to participate in usability tests may not always be easy, but the valuable insights gained from user feedback make it an essential and rewarding endeavour.

The persona and user testing helped me gain valuable insights into user behaviour and expectations, leading to informed design decisions.

This 5-day sprint have laid a strong foundation for future iterations and improvements.

Thank you for your time!
