As a designer working on a large multi-brand design system I struggle to find the optimal workflow in Figma. Here is 8 features I wish existed in Figma to help me maintain and develop a multi-brand design system.

Token Support / Expand styles

Currently Figma only supports color, effect and text styles. Hopefully the will support sizing, spacing, radius, borders, ect in the future.

Token Manager

A dedicated place to maintain the tokens across different brands.

Multi-brand components

Allowing the design systems team to improve the figma components in one global file and update it seamless to different branded libraries for other designers to consume.

Library level targeting

Better targeting for enabling of libraries. Should this library be toggled on for the entire organisation? a specific brand? teams working on X? Or just for our internal dashboard project?

Default Frames

Make it easy for designers to align on the default frames. Allowing them to reuse frames from various projects without rescaling.

Inspect Sandbox

Allow developers to play around with the components to see their props and how their interact.

Make tokens easy to copy

Pair your tokens with variable formatting for the languages you need. The developers can now copy the token variable directly from Figma.

AI assistant

How many reads the documentation? What if we could have design check in the same way we have spellcheck in word. Bringing the documentation and design rules from the design system to live using a AI which can provide feedback on your designs.
