My goal was to make some branding sense and create a feel more aesthetic to the player.

An icon for the game Bird Alone This is a square with a beautiful parrot illustration and the colors gray, orange, yellow, and red.

At First

I’m not part of the Bird Alone team — I’m a designer and a huge fan of the game as my daughter too. We started to play the game, made some songs together, and the bird wasn’t alone anymore. She is 12 years old and loves literature, music, and words.

The Problem

The game is pretty, clean and lovely. My daughter said, “I feel that the menu doesn’t work with the game; it sounds different and doesn’t”

When I look at the menu, it looks like it doesn’t have the same polish as the game’s UI, story, etc. It needs some attention to increase emotion, value, and a little bit of branding.

Goals With My Design

  • Add some polish to this screen interaction.
  • Make a branding atmosphere
  • Use some marketing assets to increase value. For example, put a powerful color into the buy button (and big size).
  • The UI proposes setup buttons and a new way to show credits.

The Original UI

Below you’ll find the current menu from Bird Alone.

My Design Proposal

Finally, my design proposal focuses on branding aspects, user experience approaches, and a little bit of marketing. I tried to give the gamer a more deep experience when using this interaction menu.

I Decided to Learn About Game Industry as UX Designer

Since of my decision I’m reading a lot — watching talks and game events and learning, learning and learning. And of course: Playing some games!

Note

I’m learning English and trying practice my grammar. If you want give me some pro tip for any sentence feel free to help me to hacking a new language. We grow up together.
