Building a sleek Out Of Home Advertising(OOH) Planning Dashboard
About the Project
A powerful tool for marketers to help them make their media mix and pitch confidently to their clients. Once configured with relevant OOH assets / Points of Interest, the dashboard will provide asset-level insights such as the estimated audience, average dwell time, distance traveled, audience profiles, and demographics — which marketers can use to allocate the best-fitted assets for specific campaign objectives.
The Challenge
My role as a UI/UX Designer was to figure out the most minimal approach with a single-page solution populated with all the critical insights while tending towards minimalism.
Research
Through a thorough analysis of existing competitor analytics tools and techniques, I was able to structure the insights content to optimize the site’s performance, find the best ways to appeal to different user groups and determine what makes the dashboard unique and minimal.
Visual Direction and Font
I created a unique, sophisticated color scheme to support the system for a high level of simplicity of use. To focus attention on the content, I’ve chosen a clean, minimalistic approach with significant use of negative space.
I chose Montserrat as my main font for this dashboard. Just one so that it’s nice and easy to read. No harm in using more than one, but for the minimal and clean approach, I would suggest sticking to one.
The map
I decided to use Mapbox's light version for the map since it fits the need for a light and minimal style.
The Solution
I have designed a powerful yet easy-to-use system that will suit most user needs. We have tested the prototype and had key product managers and end users use it.
On selecting an individual asset, we provide real-time insights on the asset that includes the top 3 profiles seen around the asset. It also provides footfall numbers and dwells time seen around the asset in the past 30 days, enabling companies to plan for utilization of the assets.
With the OOH dashboard, marketers can now easily translate their marketing dollars into incremental revenue and higher yield per asset.
