Create bad-ass abstract backgrounds with AI/Midjourney

When designing abstract backgrounds for use in landing pages, presentations, or other creative work, from a firsthand experience, it can be a little tricky to find the right balance of visual interest + simplicity.

It’s super easy to create solid backgrounds and basic gradients, but those can sometimes be too simple, especially if you’re lacking other additional creative assets to help add visual interest, such as photography or vector assets.

Photos work really well as backgrounds, if they’re simple enough. Yet finding the right photo can take a long time. It’s sometimes hard to find a high-quality, authentic image that meets all your marketing criteria with the necessary amount of white space.

I’ve been experimenting with creating abstract backgrounds in AI specifically for use in presentations or landing pages, ideally that are both visually stunning and also subtle enough to let the copy and primary elements shine. I’m stoked to be able to create abstract assets like these so easily in Midjourney, making me a more efficient and productive designer.
