It is with utmost pleasure and mild sadness that I announce that I am done with the 15-day UX Writing Challenge by dailyuxwriting.com.
Although I plan to keep updating this space with other challenges and UX mistakes I encounter, so you may check back if you would like to read more.
The past few weeks have been challenging, but it has been an encouraging experience. I realized what my mind was capable of when I decided to keep working, notwithstanding the pace.
Challenge 3: Write a multi-screen onboarding experience for a banking app that automatically pays a user’s bills every month — as long as they set it up correctly.
Headline: 45 characters
Body: 100 characters
Button: 25 characters
Time limit: 1 hour
I chose Challenge 3 because it interested me even though designing a multi-screen onboarding experience was new to me, and in the end, I realized it wasn’t as complicated as I thought. Thanks to all the Medium references and bank apps I consulted.
Today’s prompt highlights the need to make the app very easy for the user to set up correctly so they can enjoy the automatic bill-paying feature that Banka, has to offer.
To tackle this, I made the account creation process as simple and easy to complete as possible by giving them the option to use their Google account, which most users prefer, and in cases where they would like to use the second option, the signing up process is still straightforward.
To the main process that fulfils what the app is for, I divided the screen between scheduling the payments and setting up the payment details.
After setting up correctly, an acknowledgement is necessary to earmark the success of the process and also options to either go back or add more.
In defence of my design decisions, I adopted a simple and straightforward method because it is a banking app and when it comes to money, everything needs to be as clear as possible. I also made sure they were aware of what the app had to offer from the start.
I am aware that I am yet to figure out how to properly articulate things in UX Writing terms but I am focused on getting better at understanding everything it entails.
Thank you for reading and do not hesitate to check back for more writings because I will not stop practicing.
