Designing Webflow Wonders and My Genesis into Programming Language: My Unconventional Week

Guess what? This week has been a whirlwind of discovery and learning. I dove headfirst into the fascinating world of Webflow a couple of weeks ago, and let me tell you, it’s been a rollercoaster ride of “Aha!” moments and the occasional “Oh, no, not again!” But that’s what makes this journey oh-so-thrilling, right?

Right now, picture this: I’m on a mission to create a mind-blowing portfolio with the goal of retaining my target audience, and to do that, I feel the need to conquer the art of animations and interactions.

Webflow never ceases to challenge me, but I’m proud to have overcome its tricky features. This week, I achieved two major wins- enabling horizontal scrolling without tinkering with complex codes and mastering the enigmatic Marquee, first with codes and then without the help of any mysterious coding techniques which was a big win.

Now, let’s talk about why this matters. — My portfolio design! I’ve had some great conversations with my UX coach about everything from the hero screen to the landing page to the case study. My coach always encourages me to treat my portfolio like another project as a UX designer. Today, I want to focus on the landing page. I used to have a simple design that was easy to use, but I recently realized that I could incorporate some psychological tricks to keep my users engaged. After all, people’s attention spans are short these days! I want hiring managers to be able to access my projects with ease, and I want to wow them since they’ll be looking at so many other portfolios. That’s why I transformed my portfolio layout to showcase my creativity skills and make my case studies super accessible. It’s been like magic every time I iterate and think about it, and I love being able to show off my skills while still coming across as human (not a robot!). 😂

I call it The work of Victor Olalekan — Twovo, I’m crafting it to cater specifically to hiring managers, you know, those elusive gatekeepers of opportunity. The challenge? To create a unique, unforgettable experience for them before they even dive into my case studies. It’s like giving them a sneak peek of the blockbuster before the main feature. 🎬

Now, let’s shift gears to Python. Yes, you heard that right! I’ve ventured into the enchanting world of programming, and it’s like learning a new language. Python, to be precise. It felt like a storm at first, but guess what? I braved it. I’ve grasped the basics — integers, floaters, strings, and the syntax. Python 3, you’re my new buddy. 🐍

But remember, my heart lies in design. It’s my creative sanctuary where I dance with pixels, colors, and aesthetics. Programming is the new kid on the block, but who knows where this intriguing journey might lead me?

All in all, this week has been a delightful mix of challenges, victories, and discoveries. Whether it’s conquering Webflow’s quirks or taking the first steps in Python, it’s a journey I’m excited to embark on. So, here’s to embracing the unknown and learning one pixel at a time. 🎨

Until next time, keep the creative flames burning, my friends! 🔥✨
