Context- FunkFiesta, a concoction of beats, bytes, and brushstrokes, is a whimsical EDM extravaganza dreamt up solely for this case study.

🔖Objective:

The objective of this case study is to provide a comprehensive exploration of the design process involved in creating a landing page for FunkFiesta, an EDM rave party concept.

🎯Target Audience:

  • Age Range: Primarily aged 18–35, with a strong representation of the millennial and Gen Z demographics.
  • Gender Distribution: Our audience is diverse, with a fairly equal distribution between male, female, and non-binary individuals.
  • Geographic Location: While predominantly urban-based, our audience is spread across various regions.

🪢Design Process:

For this case study, My approach to design is user-centered and iterative, emphasizing continuous improvement:

🔍Research:

In crafting the user-centric design for FunkFiesta’s landing page, we embarked on a two-pronged research approach, combining a targeted survey and secondary research to gather invaluable insights.

Survey:

To tap into the minds of our potential attendees, we conducted a survey that yielded insightful responses. Despite the modest number, the feedback was rich and informative. Below are some pictures of the survey conducted and the results:

Summary of Research Survey:

Demographic Insights:

  • The majority of respondents are aged between 18–35, aligning with our target audience.
  • Equal gender representation, with a slight skew towards females.

Pain Points:

  • Concerns about long wait times during ticket purchasing.
  • Concerns about lack of information/overwhelming information about the event.

Event Preferences:

  • High interest in music festivals and rave culture.
  • Strong preference for events with Augmented Reality experiences.

4. Key Motivators:

  • Social experience and the chance to meet like-minded individuals.
  • Unique, one-of-a-kind event experiences and high-quality performances.

Competitive Analysis:

To understand the competitive landscape and pinpoint best practices, I analyzed Tomorrowland (https://www.tomorrowland.com/), Ultra Music Festival (https://www.ultramusicfestival.com/), and Electric Daisy Carnival (https://www.electricdaisycarnival.com/), and derived several important lessons for the landing page design:

Balance Visual Appeal and Performance:

  • Learning: While stunning visuals and high-quality media enhance the user experience, they can also slow down loading times.
  • Action: Optimize images and media to maintain visual appeal without compromising performance.

Streamline Content Delivery:

  • Learning: Overwhelming content volume can distract and confuse users.
  • Action: Prioritize and organize content to be clear, concise, and easily digestible.

Improve User Navigation:

  • Learning: Intuitive navigation enhances the user journey and engagement.
  • Action: Implement clear and intuitive navigation to guide users seamlessly through the site.

Ensure Robust Ticketing Process:

  • Learning: Smooth and reliable ticketing processes are crucial for user satisfaction.
  • Action: Create a straightforward and resilient ticketing system to handle high demand without crashes.

📚Concept Development:

Before diving into the design process, I conducted an extensive brainstorming session to explore various ideas and concepts for FunkFiesta. This session was crucial in laying the foundation for the creative direction and ensuring that all potential angles were considered. Below is an image of the raw brainstorming notes, capturing the initial sparks of creativity.

Brainstorming

Below are raw wireframes that capture the spontaneous bursts of creativity during our brainstorming sessions. It’s all about getting the ideas down on paper and starting to shape the user journey.

Initial raw lo-fi wireframes

To capture the vibrant and energetic essence of FunkFiesta, I created a mood board that reflects the festival’s spirit. This visual collection served as inspiration for the overall aesthetic and design direction.

🎨Style Guide:

In developing the style guide, I chose a dark mode interface to cater to the preferences of our target audience and resonate with the ambiance of the music festival. I integrated vibrant hues that reflect the dynamic energy and eclectic atmosphere of the event, ensuring the design captures the essence of the festival’s unique vibe.

Final Design

Our color palette draws inspiration from neon lights and cosmic themes, creating a vibrant mix of electric blues, pulsating purples, and radiant pinks. These colors capture the rave’s essence and enhance the AI art displays, making the experience visually stunning.
