I thought it be nice to share with you on what I wrote for the Graduation Speech that was from last Thursday.

Greetings parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, friends, students, faculty and staff.

I can truly say that your experience at The Highlander Transition Academy, has been fantastic due to the fact that you all worked hard and have come a long way!

For those that do not know me, I am Janessa, an alumni of the HTA, class of 2013. and a proud sister of Charley, one of tonight’s graduates!

I am thrilled to be here tonight to deliver a speech. So….lets begin with a story to share with you all.

It is about a fascinating insect known as a butterfly, which holds a valuable symbolism. The butterfly symbolizes transformation, which is also known as change. Like how it starts as a caterpillar and experiences a transformation to become a beautiful and colorful butterfly, you will also undergo transformations. Well, maybe not the butterfly part. Just as a butterfly, I have experienced transformations as well. From childhood to adolescence and adulthood, each phase brought large changes to my physical and mental well-being. For instance, I completed a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Art with courage, acceptance and advocacy.

A butterfly is a reminder of the endless cycle of growth. It is important to remember that growth brings encouragement. The symbol also allows us to take on change, even when it may seem frightening. During moments of transformation, such as tonight, we find our true potential.

In conclusion, the story of the butterfly reminds us to embrace change, and go all-out for personal growth! Unlike the butterfly, we are constantly changing.

Tonight, as you all accept your diploma, you are opening are opening the doors to the unknown. I am aware that transitioning can be challenging.

Although this chapter is ending, remember the memories you made at HTA, and the friendships you formed, and the skills that you gained! No one can take that away from you.

Congratulations to each of you! Be proud of your accomplishments and look forward to the changes to come.
