The candidate experience for UX writers, work-life balance and one thing to know about our industry — The pair who writes: 5 questions, 10 answers (pt. 6)
and Katrin come up with questions and answers. Pretty straightforward, but let’s see what happens!
Q1 — What’s one thing you wish you knew before you started in UX writing?
K: OK, one amazing thing I did not realize at first: that the UX writing community is a helpful and supportive place. You can be a mentee and a mentor and thrive. Remote, new work, covid-19 changed everything and so a world was opening up to me virtually. Do you know adplist.org and its service?
The team offers a great platform for the global connection of our community. Mentees and mentors meet up and chat about various themes, such as “Portfolio advice” or “Mock interviews” and really push themselves forward through this. I think the concept is wonderful and accessible. Through the booking mechanism, everyone can control their availabilities, so it is also sustainable for all parties.
A: This question has been a theme of sorts for me this year.
