The Catch-22 of starting a career in UX Design and how to overcome it
Despite the growing recognition of the importance of UX among companies, it remains challenging for entry-level designers to secure positions. The availability of entry-level positions or internships is alarmingly limited, creating a competitive environment for aspiring designers.
Demand for UX Professionals in 2023
Yes, the job market is cooling, and it’s impossible to hide from daily reports of tech giants laying off thousands, tech and UX jobs remain abundant when you examine the data beyond the headlines.
As of mid-June 2023, this is what I’m seeing:
- Designers in the US on Indeed — 2133 jobs,
- Product roles in the Czech Republic on My Product jobs — 99 Designer, 129 Product management, and 9 Research positions,
- Otta.com designer jobs that perfectly match my expectations — 10+.
While I acknowledge that the job market may not be as robust as it was last year, the numbers presented above still reflect a favorable outcome.
