I’ve been in the IG UX space since 2018, which may sound like not that long ago, but it actually means that I was one of the first creators out there.

When I started posting on UX Goodies, the only other UX-only accounts (so I’m excluding accounts that were sharing UI shots in Dribbble style / no context, no process) were Anfisa’s @anfisign and Ana’s @ux.by.ana.

Carousels didn’t even exist as a feature back then (can you imagine?!), so when IG launched it we had to experiment with the best ways of sharing UX content in this format.

By doing a lot of playing around & fun experiments, I ended up creating the Save label that eventually became the norm (nobody’s ever given me credit for that, but hey, once you design something and send it out in the world, it doesn’t belong to you anymore :) I guess.)

But enough with the history lesson — it’s purpose was simply to assure you that I’m pretty well-informed in creating this list of awesome Instagram accounts that you need to follow in 2022!

Disclaimer: the list is numbered so it’s easier to follow through, but these accounts are all awesome and presented in no particular order.

1. mentodesign.academy

The content shared on Mento’s IG profile is created by a team of Senior UX Designers with experience in iconic design companies such as Adobe, Google, Fitbit and more. Mento is a UX Bootcamp that I co-founded alongside a top team of Senior UX Designers, so I can vouch for the content that’s being posted on it and promise that it’s valuable and relevant.

Hilarious and educational at the same time. Hard to strike the right balance between these two attributes, but Shit User Story definitely wins at this. They share a super relatable collection of bad design decisions and frustrating interactions that we all encounter with our everyday products.

This is my round-up of UX Instagram accounts worth following in 2022, but the list is probably much longer and I’d love to see recommendations I’ve missed in the Comments sections of this article.

Final Considerations

I want to end with an important disclaimer: Instagram by itself is not enough to teach you UX design. You can look at it as a starting point, as an additional source, as an informative fun channel, but you’ll have to go beyond it to properly teach yourself UX Design.
