“Our main goal is to enhance and simplify golf course registration and tee time booking with a user-friendly design while achieving the look that clients wanted.”

I am currently working on a charity project/volunteer project for a local golf course here in the Philippines with my classmate from our UX Boot Camp. During my breaks/free time, I have been working on this project.

I feel truly blessed and grateful to have had the opportunity to conduct the entire user experience research and understand the in-depth process from registration to billing. Additionally, I had the chance to present the design face-to-face, which I haven’t done in person since the pandemic began. All of my presentations have been conducted through Zoom or Google Meet, but this time, it was different.

However, I cannot showcase my actual designs in this blog. Nonetheless, I have created a completely different flow and UI for the sake of documentation purposes.

The objective is to simplify the registration and payment process.

Research and Analysis

During this phase, me and my UX buddy Rodrigopalafox did initial research to understand the current challenges and pain points faced by users when it comes to registration and payment processes at the golf course.

We conducted in-depth research to gather insights into the user journey from registration to billing. This research likely involved methods such as several ocular visits to the said location, and lots of user interviews — to understand user needs, preferences, and pain points.

The main reason why I ended up getting projects like this, is that..

“I strongly value hands-on experience and believe it’s crucial to be physically present to truly grasp the details of a process. That’s why I was eager to immerse myself in the entire flow firsthand before diving in the design journey.”

Design Phase

After several visits, we started the design phase through some sketches on paper (or rough draft), then low-fidelity wireframes for the golf course’s registration and payment processes.

Presentation

During the presentation, we showcased our designs to the clients involved in the charity project. Presenting the design in person undoubtedly facilitated quicker feedback and more in-depth discussions.

And.. since the project is still ongoing, and have free time during weekends, I challenged myself to redesign the existing design that we did.

Any feedback and/or design critique will be greatly appreciated!

All the best.
