Tweaking the Design Process
Make it non-linear
Have you ever tried making tea at home? I do it every day, and I occasionally experiment with the process.
There are many different ways to make tea, and each time we change the method, the tea tastes different, but at the end of the day, it’s still tea.
So, what’s your preference, black tea, green tea, milk tea, sugar-free tea, or a dip tea?
While the traditional Design Thinking process suggests a linear approach in Product Design, we occasionally tweak the process to build products without losing sight of the core focus. These tweaking are required in a situation of urgency while still supporting the objectives and priorities of the company. In this article, I’ll go over a few scenarios in which these tweaks are used.
Process Tweak 1 — No UX Research in the beginning
There are times when user research is put on hold for a variety of reasons.
Either there aren’t enough researchers to support research activities, or there aren’t enough participants signing up for the research interview.
