This project is part of UX Design Immersive program provided by MiSK.

How was my first week in this program? tell you later about it.

First, I will walk you through my very first UX project.

We are a group of four; Shatha Alowedie, Mustafa Alsadah and Jawad Almuttawa

We chose to talk about an app that can have all available activities for children to attend in their region.
I also would like to mention that I separated my article to two parts; Research phase and design phase.

___________________________________________________________________

I enjoyed this part a lot, it motivates you to use ‘what if’, that means an open mind to possibilities but in the same time we have to stay subjective.

We had to listen very carefully to the users and to be able to see from their perspective, in another word, to empathize with our users.

RESEARCH GOALS:

The main point of this research is to tackle the issue of finding entertaining activities for young teens. but you can also find some sub-goals in the next picture.

QUESTIONS:

In this stage, we started sending questionnaire forms by email to those who accepted to participate in the little survey. Some of them we were able to interview face to face, which was more of an interactive session I would say.

12 questions

As you can see in the following picture, there are nine different colors, which means nine different users. the data that we were able to extract from their answers was bigger than I expected.

We also noticed as a group that some of the users were brief in their answers, while some gave us more details about their feedback.

Those who were using short answers are the same ones who received the survey by email. We can confidently say that interviewing users face to face is much richer in terms of information.

9 parents From different cities located in KSA were interviewed in this project

Personally, I didn’t expect that we are going to be able to generate meanings from our raw data and to find relevant aspects between them. We actually restructured these groups many times, and I found that YES we can keep breaking down to even more groups, but that wouldn’t serve the purpose of the project.

INSIGHTS:

I was surprised to find that many kids are prefer spend their time at home playing video games or watching TV ‘according to parents’ .

But the two points that we can’t deny here are; parents found it very difficult to actually know about activities in the first place, they ask friends or check social media for information about current events. The second point is that they would prefer their kids to go to nearby activities.

And that was the end of the fun part.

Yes, I admit it, I enjoyed the 1st part more, but this doesn’t mean that I did’t enjoy this one too! well, just a little bit less.

USER FLOW:

The process of creating the user flow was a little confusing as a first time. We had different opinions as a group, some preferred to start with creating an account and some are would rather prefer to see it after the user select all preferences and reach the payment button.

We end up starting with creating the account as it was less confusing for the user.

WIREFRAME:

We are going to put you in the user’s shoes by following the arrows in the picture below. we built this wireframe prototype to show the sequence right from the beginning, starting with ‘sign up’ and finishing of with confirming the booking

Here is a demo of how the user would interact with the app.

Here is my classmate trying to show you a small video

USER TESTING FINDINGS.

Lesson to be learned: DON’T underestimate user’s feedback.

Users are one of the main stockholders that you don’t want to disappoint. Here are some of the valuable feedback from our users.

FUTURE GOALS:

This cycle is continuous, every time you can enhance a little, it is a non stop process.

Here are some of our thoughts based on what we have gathered from the user.

WRAP UP:

To make it short for you people, this is me last week.

I thought last week would never end, but here we are in the second one and to be honest I am so excited to be in this course as it has been very long time since I challenged myself.

Finally, a reminder to oneself.

“Always walk through life as if you have something new to learn and you will.”
