What makes a great leader?
Let’s be honest, we’ve all had our fair share of terrible leaders in our lifetime. The ones that ping you at 12 AM on a weekend or micromanage your every move. Great leaders are rare and few but it is truly a blessing if you ever have the chance to encounter someone who can inspire, motivate, and advocate for you. I wanted to take some time to reflect on some characteristics that I’ve noticed in leaders in my life that I look up to in order to be able to do the same if I ever have the chance to become a leader myself.
Before I share my thoughts I also want to give props to all the leaders out there. People don’t give those in leadership roles enough credit and I know that being a leader is TOUGH. It comes with unsaid expectations, responsibilities, and challenges that are never listed in any job description. Criticism, personal opinions, and the burden to carry the responsibility for others are just a few of the many challenges that come with a highlighted title. So if you have a leader you look up to, make sure you tell them you appreciate them as well ☺️ They probably don’t hear it as often as they should.
